After hearing about the problems Azwaj’s cousin was going thorough about their late father’s inheritance, I did a little digging about wills and things. I mean I don’t have much asset to my name to leave my beneficiary but being in the know is always good than not, I always say.

Anyway, I found this site that really gives great pointers on what to do and what not to do in cases such as this. The site gives you a great checklist on what do first like collecting all the proper paperwork, getting copies of death certificates, insurance policies, marriage license, birth certificates and any will in existence. This is followed by what to do within the first month like hiring a local probate attorney, for instance if you are in Malaysia then hire one from here, if you are in San Francisco then of course, hire a san francisco probate attorney. The site also provide tips on what to do within the first three months, three to six months and by the nine month.

I hope the site can give you an insight on the legal aspect of this issue and help us all to avoid unnecessary hassle in the future.

Cheerio…
