How to Get Smileys on your Twitter Status

Be it in our offline and online stuff, we all like to dress up everything we that we do and have. For those of us that have cats, we love to dress them up as other animals or even human. For those that have horses, we use horse tack to make them more attractive. For those of us that chat, emotions plays a big role to express and dress up what what we are feeling. If we have a blog, we like to make it more interesting with smileys as well. Now with twitter you have smileys and emoticons too. I recently found some fun ones and would like to share them with you. Statistics Are Important

One of my most hated subjects in school was Statistics. I hated the graphs, I hated the charts and most of all I hated the interviewing of people to get the statistics. Yeap my teacher made us do that to get a good idea of what it all means, or so she said.

Anyway, all that is in the past and as I grew up, started living in the real world, I found out how important Statistics are. Oh how I wish teachers and Statistics tutor took the time to explain why it is that we were studying such topics. Statistics problems would have been more fun to solved if they make it relate to our daily lives for sure. Back then, even with a tutor, the subject was torture!

Nowadays, fortunately, it is easy to get help from from TutorVista  if you have a  Statistics questions. The site even comes with free Statistics help from qualified tutors for students ranging from K-12, back to school and college goers. So take advantage of this site if you will because… Statistics are important. You’ll thanked me when you have your own blog.. lol!

Singapore Flood Part 2

This was a video I found on youtube on Singapore’s recent Flood (16th June 2010) and since Singapore hardly gets flood especially in Orchard Road, I reckon it’s history in the making so it just has to make it to LJL pages.. From the video you’ll see that most Singaporeans have no experience with flood whatsoever. They sure look like they don’t know what to do and check out the man trying to get into his store at the end of the video, perhaps trying to save his petty cash or rustic furniture? Poor thing, I wonder if the policman will help him. Who knows?

How to overcome white screen after WordPress 3.0 install

As I mentioned in the post at my blog Life’s Pages, I just had a tortured three hours when I decided to upgrade to WordPress 3.0. If I had been one of those people that break out when stressed, I would probably need the best acne treatment right about now.

The thing was I actually upgraded three of my other blogs first before upgrading this blog. The three upgrades went smoothly without a hitch, so my confidence level was an all time high. Then when upgrading this blog, I had an installation error and my whole blog disappeared. So if you were trying to access my blog and got a blank page instead, now you know the reason why.  I immediately went to the WordPress forum for help. It seemed I was not alone. There were others in the same boat and everyone it seems was waiting for a solution. Someone suggested that it may have been because of a plugin that was not compatible with the new version and advised that I renamed my plugin directory via ftp. I tried that but was not successful. Naturally I panicked as I don’t know when the “guru” would login and start answering questions. I did more digging and found a suggestion to reinstall the upgrade manually. I did and I was successful! Thank goodness!

So, I would like to share with you what I did to restore my blog.

1. Download wordpress 3.0
2. Uncompressed the files
3. Rename my plugins directory to plugin01
4. Copy the files to the right directory, overwriting the existing files
5. Rename my plugin01 to plugins

From this experience, my advise to you will be, make sure you disable your active plugins before upgrading. This is because some plugins are incompatible with the new version and this might cause problem. In my case though, I don’t think its the plugin as I found the files that was causing the error was in wp-includes.

Wordpress 3.0 is here

Ever since I’ve got my own web hosting and moved to the wordpress blogging platform, I’ve been having a field day with all the new coding work and the limitless plugin extension. I must say I was a bit frustrated and daunted in the beginning because everything was so new but the moment I got the hang of it, I am loving everything about it. I’ve been at the wordpress plugin page too experimenting with each plugin.. lol! And.. WordPress 3.0 has just been released and I heard there are a lot of goodies/features installed there, though I’m waiting before upgrading.

I must also say having my own website hosting is awesome too.No more clamoring bandwidth with other users and no more unnecessary downtime which is beyond my control. Having total control of my website and blog is totally awesome. I totally recommend it!

What are your experiences with wordpress and webhosting? Are you upgrading to WP 3.0 soon?

Never Enough Space

There can never enough storage space I always say. No matter how big your house or your apartment is, you always run out of space especially if you are the kind of person that buys stuff on impulse. I was like that too. So much so that I would have consider getting one of those DuraMax Stronglasting Teton Vinyl Sheds 20221 just to house my stuff that although no longer in use, holds a sentimental value and so throwing them out would never have been an option.

Now I am more disciplined and would think twice before buying anything.. though I did splurge a bit when I was in Singapore last week.. lol!

Medical Woes ~ Polycythemia Vera

People get all sort of diseases nowadays. Some diseases are as common as the flu, some are unheard off and some are just pure mystery. Some diseases are contributed by our lifestyle, the way we live our lives. Some are work related that if you are contract it you can actually hire say a Mesothelioma lawyer to help you get the right compensation from your employer.

On my recent trip to Singapore, I just discovered two such diseases. One of them is really weird in that this person got to go to the hospital every other week to get rid of her blood. You heard me, get rid of her blood.

Why? Because it seems she has a a blood disease that causes overactive production of blood but since the blood is too thick, which potentially can cause blood clot and stroke, she can’t donate it. So every other week she visits the hospital, go through the motion of a blood donor but her blood gets thrown out. After further research, I found out this disease is called Polycythemia Vera. People suffering from this disease are supposed to avoid anything that helps with the production of blood and stay away from food with high iron content.

Do you know of anyone suffering from this disease?

Singapore Freak Flood

I was back in Singapore a few days ago and it was hot. So hot that I had to use umbrella when walking long distance. So much to my surprise when I  was speaking to mommy on the phone today and she told me it’s has been raining non-stop in Singapore since yesterday and it seems some parts of Singapore were greatly hit by freak flood.

One of the areas? Orchard Road, Singapore bustling area with citizens and tourists, was knee deep in water! Check out some of the pictures that I got from all over the web on this hot topic!

In case you’re wondering, this incident doesn’t happen much in Singapore thus the big hoo-haa everywhere.. lol!

Happy Weekend

I just found out from my mom that the price of gold has raised to SGD63 per gram in Singapore. I seriously don’t know why the gold price has gone up that high but it does potentially means that if you have gold jewelery to sell, now is the time to sell them especially for those pieces that are out of trend and fashion. I have a few pieces myself that I am tempted to sell or trade in but am not sure if gold prices are that high in Malaysia. I’m guessing it’s the same everywhere but I want to make sure before I make a decision.

Anyway, I want to wish one of my CNC ladies, a happy birthday…it’s the big 40 for her and I wish all the love and happiness in the world for my beloved friend!

It’s a busy weekend for me but I wanted to wish everyone a  great weekend with the loved ones ya!

The Irony

I used to have really thick hair and I hated it. To me, it was bushy and it was unmanageable and I often wished I had thinner hair all the time. Now that I’m older, I’m wishing that my hair would stop thinning already and the irony is, I’m actually looking for hair growth shampoo.. lol!

Way Off...

Since I was over at blogthings, I love their quizzes by the way, I chanced on another quiz about diet and weight. According to blogthings, the way I eat and what I eat, at this moment in time, I should weight 180pounds! OMG!!! I immediately went on the scale and was thankful to see I was no where near that, in fact my scale only tipped at 120! Phew!!

Anyway, though it looks like I’m way off the “actual” weight I should be, I won’t mind knowing what the best weight loss pills is as I still to lose some weight in some places.. hehhe…

How Healthy Is My Diet?

It’s official! My diet is so unhealthy that I should be dead right now! LOL!

I was over at blogthings today and found this test and after picking and choosing the answers that rightly describe how I eat, I’m told that I am only16% healthy and it’s a wonder that I’m still alive, kicking and having fun.. lol! I guess I wont’ need that Phentermine 37.5 eh?

Guitar Strings for Azwaj

I’m home with a thousand and one thing to do but I had a great time in Singapore and was glad I made the trip. My reunion was a blast, the dinner treat was awesome and I got some fantastic guitar strings, one of which is not available here in KL, for Azwaj.

So now I’m back to normal life. It’s  back to acne treatment reviews, back to being a webmaster and back to blog makeovers again though taking it easy a bit because mommy is here with me and I don’t want her to be bored.

You Can Be A Princess Too

We went back to Parkway Parade today as I forgot to buy some supplements that I needed before I go back to KL tomorrow. On the way out, mommy and I saw these little girls being photographed as little princess. Initially we thought it was a photoshoot or something but there was a whole line of little girls queuing up. Then I saw the sign, Disney Royal Moments. The girls were all queuing up to be little princess. They will be made up by make up artist with even their hair all done up. Then they would pick a dress, wear a tiara and for the photoshoot, they have a choice of two background scene, the carriage and the dance floor.

I couldn’t resist taking pictures of the whole process. I think it’s awesome and so if you have a little girl, and around Parkway Parade, check it out ok!
