I love cleaning out my old emails as not only do I get priceless pictures like the ones below, I also get reminded of awesome offers from great sites that offers brands like Panerai watches.

In Singapore, when we withdraw money from the ATM machines, we are encourage to cover the keypad as we enter our pin number. Make sense of course and especially here in Malaysia where people can really be inconsiderate and like stand very close behind you as you make your transaction.

However, I seriously think these people are taking security to a whole new limit… lol….

It’s my Abah’s (father-in-law) birthday’s today and it would be his first birthday without mama. We will probably spend today with him just so he won’t feel too lonely. We have not gotten him anything yet but what do you give a man who has everything and want for nothing. I mean a personalized footballs would be great for someone who is huge football fan but he ain’t one and as far as I know he does not play any sports now. Hmm..time to put on the thinking cap.

OMG it’s Music Monday 100th round this week and I totally forgot to do anything special. Being sick really makes you a dimwit. ok.. so just from the top of my head.. I’m going to go round this week, select the song next Thursday, when the linky close, the song that I love the most and the one winner would get a free ad space (125×125) at LadyJava’s Lounge (PR3) for two weeks (how does that sound). So.. put on your best selection and may you be the best song picker this week

My song this week is from my fave boyband.. Boyzone.. swooning over Ronan Keating in this video.. I loved it when he had this hair style..

There are no plans to spend Raya in Singapore this year since it’s the first Raya without Mama and we don’t want Abah to spend it alone. So I would probably visit mommy at the end of this month and come back just before Raya to spend it here with Azwaj and Abah. Good thing too as the head gasket of A’s car needed replacement and that would cost a substantial amount plus as in any long distance distance traveling, the car need to be in tiptop condition and A’s car is far from that. A friend offered his Honda Civic, if we needed it but we kindly turned down his offer as this is not an emergency and there is no need to trouble anyone.

Speaking of auto repair, if you are in the Los Angeles area, do check out Los Angeles auto repair search website. The site list a lot of repair sites that gives you value for money auto services that can save you thousands in car repair.

I’ve been very lucky in love. It wasn’t difficult for me to find one and the times that I do fell in love in someone, that someone always reciprocates the feeling. It doesn’t matter if the relationship eventually turns sour because at least the feelings were mutual in the beginning.

However, some people might have difficulty finding that someone special to share their lives with and that is where best dating websites like Match.com comes in handy. Sites such as these, lend a helping hand for people to meet other people of the same interest and with the same intention. I was looking through Match dating site review and it seems that the site stands out from the other dating sites because not only because of it’s powerful search engine but also because it comes up with five daily matches for you. I mean your chance of meeting the “one” is definitely greater that way right? Plus the site is also cell-phone friendly meaning you can search for that special someone wherever you are!

So if love is what you are looking for, why not try the site and see what it can offer you.. after all you got nothing to lose but love to gain :)

I was wondering why my traffic spike up so high over this last few days and now I know why. Apparently people are searching for the teaser video for the JavaZone 2010 event,  “LADYJAVA MUSIC VIDEO” .. lol.. Although I am in no related to this video, the event or although my id, LadyJava does not have anything to do with  Java the language (find out why my id is such here), I can’t help but feel related to it now.. lol!

One thing is for sure.. how I wish I can pull off wearing that Java Shiny top..

The rain is still pouring outside and it doesn’t show any sign of stopping although it’s been raining the whole day. It’s nice and cool up here in the hills. I really don’t feel like getting out of bed but alas, the fur-kids need to be taken care of,  this empty tummy need  filling and the sore throat needs tending to. I’d probably climb back to bed once everything is done. ;)

With weather such as this, sometimes I just like to do everything on my comfy and warm bed. Things like sorting out business cards (I found a few useful printing services that offer online printing services ), going through my massive to dos list and even clearing out my handbag to see what junk is in there. Reminiscing through photo albums is also an awesome activity for weather such as this. Ah.. another lazy night for sure.

What are your plans?

One thing I love about the tv shows nowadays is that it introduces me to songs that I would otherwise would have not known. Just like this song that was played on Cougar Town. I won’t tell from which scene as they are many of you who have not watched the whole season but suffice to say, the scene is awesome.. lol!

Enjoy the song, the lyrics is awesome too. Happy Music Monday everyone. I’m thinking of doing something nice for the 100th edition of Music Monday next week so watch out for details!

When I moved from Singapore to Malaysia, I didn’t’ bring a lot of stuff. No furniture and definitely no major appliances like the fridge or washing machine. In fact the only things that I brought with me were my clothing, some books and some personal stuff. The reason was because Azwaj already have a home with all the necessary stuff and it doesn’t make sense to bring anything from Singapore. So my move was done in three trips using Azwaj’s car. Now if the case had been different, for example, if my mom had come along during my move to Malaysia ten years ago, I probably need to get a professional mover simply because she has lots more stuff than me, from her own clothing to her pots and pans, we probably need a big trailer to haul all of them to Malaysia. lol!

Lucky for me, moving to Malaysia didn’t need a lot of adjusting to (or so I thought). I mean we pretty much have the same climate. We speak the same Malay language though that would have been different if I had married someone living in further up north or the east coast. However, can you believe I was actually in culture shock for the first year of marriage. Everything was different. The mentality of the people, the way they behave, even some words that I was so used to using seems so foreign in this land. I needed to seriously adjust. Fortunately, Azwaj was always with me so I managed to cope and pretty soon got used to the lifestyle.

Sometimes I wonder what it would be like to totally move to a really foreign country, like the States for instance. I’ve never been there hence the word “foreign”.. lol! Like, I have this online friend who fell in love with someone from Tuscon and have plans moving to Arizona after they get married. I reckon, there would be tons of concerns on her mind and among them would be on the move itself, like how she would need to consider to hire Tucson moving services or use local Phoenix movers for example. Oh well, I have just the website for her to check out.

Moving to another country is always scary. New rules, new people, new culture, but in at the end of the day, I always say.. what does not kill you only make you stronger.

We went to Low Yatt Plaza today to get me speakers for my desktop (been using headphones and it’s causing me to go deaf),  mouse pad and blank cds for Azwaj. A friend also came along because he wanted to get the price lists for laptops and netbooks as he needs to get a replacement for his ailing one. I window shop as well because as you know Miss Fly, my own laptop, is three years old next year and no more warranty for her so got to start budgeting for a new one should she.. ehem ehem.

Prices are really good. There’s a Lenovo unit with all the features that I wanted going for RM1699 and an Asus one that is going for RM1799 though Lenovo looks more value for value since it has bluetooth feature. Anyway, I’m definitely going to surf around for laptop reviews tonight to see what are being said about these models. Don’t want to make the same mistake twice.

I’m in my obsessed mood people and this time it’s over Cougar Town. I so love the show and even got Azwaj hooked on it.. can’t wait for it’s next season run starting on 22 September 2010. hehehe..

Enjoy this song from the show performed by Josh Hopkins and Sheryl Crow. It’s absolutely endearing.. to me at least..Happy Music Monday!

Love the lyrics..lol
Running, running, running just as fast as I can.
Trying to be your everything man.
You want me to want you, but not every day.
You want me to beg when there is nothing to say.
You want me all edgy but there’s always a hitch.
I have to stay loyal when you act like a bitch.
You want toughness & sweetness & softness & meanness.
Wanna make me the master of this in-betweenness…

Running, running, running just as fast as I can.
Trying to be your everything man.
Please be my-
You know I’m going to try.
I can be your everything man.
He’s going to be my everything man.

Me and Azwaj just finished watching season 1 of a sexy comedy called “Cougar Town”. We spent like 90% of the time laughing away as we watched the show and my mouth ache  from all that laughing!  The dialogs are hilarious and the characters are awesome. Also if you like miss “Monica” from “Friends” then you should totally watch this show. She’s the star!

Basically the show is about Jules, a recently divorced woman in her 40s who’s looking to find love and romance. The show revolves around her, her son, her ex-husband and their friends. Season 1 has ended but season 2 is starting again on 22 September 2010. Can’t wait!!

Sexy Comedy – Cougar Town

The cast of the show: Courteney Cox, Christa Miller, Busy Philipps, Dan Byrd, Josh Hopkins, Ian Gomez and Brian Van Holt.

Anyway, time to hit the sack as I got an early morning tomorrow to the wholesaler with Azwaj.  Have a wonderful Sunday all!

With my pathetic English…. this ought to make life much easier….lol

The European Commission has just announced an agreement whereby English will be the official language of the European Union rather than German, which was the other possibility.

As part of the negotiations, the British Government conceded that English spelling had some room for improvement and has accepted a 5- year phase-in plan that would become known as “Euro-English”. In the first year, “s” will replace the soft “c”. Sertainly, this will make the sivil servants jump with joy. The hard “c” will be dropped in favour of “k”. This should klear up konfusion, and keyboards kan have one less letter. There will be growing publik enthusiasm in the sekond year when the troublesome “ph” will be replaced with “f”. This will make words like fotograf 20% shorter.

In the 3rd year, publik akseptanse of the new spelling kan be expekted to reach the stage where more komplikated changes are possible.

Governments will enkourage the removal of double letters which have always ben a deterent to akurate speling.

Also, al wil agre that the horibl mes of the silent “e” in the languag is disgrasful and it should go away.

By the 4th yer people wil be reseptiv to steps such as replasing “th” with “z” and “w” with “v”.

During ze fifz yer, ze unesesary “o” kan be dropd from vords kontaining “ou” and after ziz fifz yer, ve vil hav a reil sensi bl riten styl.

Zer vil be no mor trubl or difikultis and evrivun vil find it ezi tu understand ech oza. Ze drem of a united urop vil finali kum tru.

Und efter ze fifz yer, ve vil al be speking German like zey vunted in ze forst plas.

If zis mad you smil, pleas pas on to oza pepl.

Have a great weekend everyone :-)

Singapore is celebrating it’s 45th birthday this year on Monday, 9th. If you’re an overseas Singaporean like me, then here are some activities you can do to celebrate our nations’ birthday.

  1. Catch the “live” webcast of this year’s National Day Parade (NDP) at the Padang on www.ndp.org.sg (9 Aug, 1730hrs to 2025hrs Singapore time). Watch the Mobile Column roll past the Padang and the heartland celebrations “live” at Bishan, Sengkang, Eunos, Woodlands and Choa Chu Kang. The video will be available for viewing on the website for a month till 9 Sep.
  2. Catch up on the latest NDP 2010 happenings on Facebook @ NDPeeps, http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/NDPeeps/89175368528?ref=ts
  3. Take part in the “Live our dreams, Fly Our flag” campaign @ www.ndp.org.sg/lodfof
  4. Listen to Corrine May’s “Song for Singapore” @ http://www.ndp.org.sg/articles_main.php?article=themeSong&id=media

… with a tissue pack of course…lol!

I’m not sure about you but this is very much a culture in Singapore lifestyle. I remembered back when I was living in Singapore, I always made sure I had a pack of tissue or the papers to “reserve” my seat at the hawker center while I order my lunch. It was understood that if you see a pack of tissue or the papers on the seat, than that place is reserved and you just move on and look for an empty one. This habit had become so instilled in me that I took it for granted that everyone does it around the world.

tissue on seat

How To "Chop" Seats in Singapore

So the story began, and this was a long time ago, mind you. We were on our way to Ipoh and made a stopover at Tapah. As usual that rest stop is always crowded. So after making a quick stop to the restroom, which would have been a more desirable experience if it had been a Saniflo toilet,  Azwaj went to grab his food. I, totally done without malice and innocently I might add, took out a pack of tissue and put it on the chair he had been sitting on before. I took out another one and put it on my chair and happily went to see what the stall had to offer. My hubby was puzzled at first to see me standing with him and he asked me who’s taking care of the seat so I told him, “Don’t worry, put tissue already”. He kept quiet (now I know why, coz he did not understand!). Anyway, after paying for the food I led him to “our” seat and lo and behold, there was another couple there already having their meal. I looked at my hubby and I told him “hmm some people just don’t have manners”. Not wanting to create a scene, we looked around for another table.

After we found another one, my hubby asked me what I meant by “people not having manners”. I explained to him about the tissue. He kept quiet at first and then he gave me this guttural laugh that had everyone looking at us… He then told me, “NO ONE DOES THAT IN MALAYSIA! The pack of tissue did not mean a thing there except probably you dropped it or something”. I looked at him at go “huh?.

Then it hit me!..It’s Uniquely Singapore!

I guess what they say is true.. you can take me away  from Singapore but you can’t take the Singapore away from me!
