Blogger Gathering This Friday

Yeay! I’ll be meeting my online buddies this Friday and to say I’m excited would be the understatement of the year! lol! I’ve been reminding Azwaj about this date since we, namely Mariuca, Shemah and myself, confirmed the date last month and I’ve continued reminding him simply because I don’t want the date to slip his mind which would mean I would not be able to go! I’ve even reminded him to do any oil change or brake job on his  Acura TL ..oppss I meant his bike,  if necessary, to make sure we have a smooth ride. However, seeing how it almost always rained in the evening these past few nights, we might just have to take a cab instead or risk getting wet along the way, which would be a disaster!

Anyway, we have about 22 people coming for this Friday blogger gathering at the Hard Rock Cafe. A good number if I do say so myself. Oh no I still don’t know what I’m gonna wear!

Halloween Printable Games - A Review

I remember our Halloween party so vividly. How we would dress up and dance the night away in the costume that we choose for the evening. Ah the good old days. Sometime I really do miss working out in the “real” world.. lol!

When I was an executive assistant, one of my duties was to organize such events and often, it can be quite a challenge to keep each event fresh each year. Our team has to think of ways to make the annual event fun and different so that people won’t consider our parties a bore and predictable.  Although I don’t organise or go to any more Halloween party, I am nonetheless quite excited to be asked to review the Halloween Party Games Pack. To be honest, I really didn’t know what to expect but was pleasantly greated by not 1o, not 20 but 50 fun printable enjoyable games that can be used at any Halloween party. After downloading all the printable games , I must say, no party would ever be boring again. The games are not only meant for kids but there are games for adults too like the “Newly Weds Question Games” and the “Harvest Goddess Left-Right Game’  which have participants passing a gift from left to right depending on the narration of a story. I can just imagine the confusion and chaotic-ness  of it all.. lol!

Smelling Heavenly

It’s now 1.35am and I should really be sleeping as we have an early morning tomorrow. We need to be up and out and back home again by 10am in time for the Unifi people to come and install my 10mbps internet connection. Yihaa!

But wait, it’s the weekend which means it’s time for my ritual lathering of perfumed body oil on both my arms and my legs. I try to make it a habit as I always tend to ignore the little things that my body so needed. So whenever possible, I will get  Azwaj to apply some body oil on my back and whichever area that I can’t reach too ;) . I love the effect it has on my body in the morning. My skin would glisten from the oil and the scent would seems somehow have been absorbed by my body through the night leaving me smelling all heavenly. lol!

So that being said, I now bid you goodnight as I can see Azwaj reaching for the body oils already! heheh… Have a great Sunday all!

Consolation

It’s about ten days to the Blogger Gathering on 1st October and I am going nowhere in my blockbuster diet. The needle on the weighing still shows the same number and as far as I’m concerned the dieting was a complete failure. For a first attempt at dieting, it is pretty pathetic I think. The only good thing that came out of it that I discovered what oats can do for me. It may not be the best weight loss supplements but I know it works because I can feel like I’m not panting so much when I’m climbing the stairs… so yeay!

Hosting Search

My website hosting is coming up for a renewal soon and as much I love the hosting I now have, I can’t help but wonder if there are cheap web hosting service out there that can deliver the same kind of service that my current hosting is providing. I mean anything that can save me some moolah is always great in my books but of course service is equally important. I don’t think I would be going back to hosting with blogspot that is for sure as I love wordpress and all it’s fantastic plugins ( though I do have two blogs with blogspot domain, but that is a different story altogether.).

Anyway, I am still looking so wish me luck!

Extreme Weather

I’m not a fan of extreme weather. I don’t like when it gets too hot or when it’s too cold as both extreme condition can trigger off my asthma. Anyone who has asthma would tell you to avoid any of your triggers but in my case sometimes it’s just not possible.

That is why we have both Ceiling Fans and airconditioning at our house. So when it’s too hot, we switch on the aircon but when it’s too cold yet a little stuffy because all the windows are closed, we switch on one of the Ceiling Fan that we have at either the home office or the living room to give us ventilation.

Speaking of ceiling fan, it is important to choose one that is hardy and reliable. I remember some time back when my mother was taking a nap in the living room and she was awaken by a loud smash. Apparently one of the blade from the ceiling fan have dropped off and hit the coffee table. Luckily no one was hurt but after that my mom took extra precaution when buying the next set. Our fan now sort of wobble a bit when it goes on high speed but because we hardly ever use that speed, we reckon it should be ok though if necessary we most definitely would replace it in the near future.

My New Sweater

My New Sweater

I’m always on the lookout for light as oppose to heavy sweaters these days. We do a lot of night time riding on the motorbike to go to dinner, to run errands or just for some cool air riding sometimes (romantic eh). I cannot not have a sweater on because it gets cold when riding the motorbike at night but I want the sweater light enough to not make me perspire should I decide to leave it on when we stop somewhere for “teh tarik” at the coffee shop.

I already have one that I used ALL the time and I’m getting bored with it. So, imagine my delight when I found one while shopping at Isetan in Singapore. Nice eh?

LadyJava's Lounge has a new URL

The Beginning

When I first started blogging, my hosting, much like a lot of you was on the free blogspot domain. Having no experience whatsoever with the blogging world, it was terrifying yet exciting to say the least. It was a challenge and nothing was making me losing weight fast than to have the stress of looking for awesome looking templates and deciding what to name my blog was already proving a headache. I keep changing titles and finally settled with LadyJava’s Lounge after consulting with Azwaj for the umpteenth time.

Then after about a few months blogging, I decided that I wanted a domain name of my own. I wanted ladyjava dot com but was so disappointed to find that address was no longer available and even more so upset when I noticed it was just a parked domain!

Anyway, at that time I was not doing paid blogging so didn’t have any inkling on what it means to have niche blogs ( I also wanted to save money). I decided that I would have one domain and then add on subdomain should I decide to have more blogs later. After again consulting with Azwaj, we decided that Java Aura was a great name but since there were two “A” there, we decided to merge it and hence JAVAURA dot com was born.

Now since I planned to have one more blog at least about my kitties, I created a subdomain “ladyjava” for my personal blog. Then I thought I would add cats, food and so on but all as subdomain address… and thus ladyjava.javaura.com was born :)

The Realization

Then I started to pay attention to SEO and also started to dabble with paid blogging and realized that in order to be ranked properly in terms of Google search and Page Rank, it would better if I have niche blogs and a separate domain for each of them. I also realized that advertisers much prefer the root domain as opposed to subdomain.

That being said, after about three years of blogging with this subdomain at LJL, please say hello now to LadyJava’s Lounge publishing as http://javaura.com!

I would be grateful if you, my readers, can start accessing this blog using the new url and if you can also change your blogroll to reflect the changes.

Clothes Chat

Have you ever looked at your wardrobe and wonder what on earth was going on in your head when you bought a specific piece of clothing? I know I am not an exception but rather the norm when I say this right? Sometimes I think it’s impulse buying but most time I think I was just crazy. Lol! But you know what, looking at this guide for the The Complete Women’s Wardrobe, I think I can pretty much say I did very well for my wardrobe collection. I have most of the items here and all my bases are covered. The only pieces of clothing that are missing would be the  jeans (I can’t fit into my Versace any more) and the mini skirts (those cellulite can be brutal!)

Anyway, I just found that I am considered Petite in the US world because I am 5’4 and shorter so I am supposed to wear high heels and anything that elongates my torso area. In my part of the world, I can almost see everyone’s head when I’m in the elevator.. lol!

September Already?

I can’t believe we are in September already and beginning our last quarter of 2010. I mean O M G! Seriously where did the time go?

There’s only about a week left into the Ramadhan friends and a lot of stalls over at the “Pasar Juadah” are also starting to close shop. People are getting ready and busy for their trip back to their respective hometown for the big day next Friday. A lot of A’s friends are also getting their car serviced and some are even signing up for roadside assistance club just in case of road emergency.

As for me, am planning a trip back to Singapore either tomorrow or the day after. It seems Smokey’s condition is getting better despite not taking medicine so we are suspecting that he might just have had a stomach upset (finger crossed for sure).
