Take a backseat diamonds, women’s new best friend, moissanite, is stepping up to take your place. Moissanite was discovered by Henri Moissan in 1893. He was examining rocks from the site of a meteor landing and first mistakenly thought the crystals to be diamonds. Later he realized they were really silicon carbide and eventually the crystals were named for him.

Because meteorites are a rare commodity, Charles & Colvard Created Moissanite® is grown in a lab. It’s dubbed The Most Brilliant Jewel in the World®, outshining other gems and is more durable than sapphires, rubies or emeralds. Moissanite stones have a higher refractive ratio than diamonds, making them bend more light. Whether it’s day or night, high or low light, a moissanite gem will dazzle all admirers.

Moissanite.com has a wide array of stones and settings sure to appeal to any woman. They are a long lasting, beautiful alternative to diamonds and the buyer won’t have to sacrifice size, quality or style to fit their budget. They also come with a lifetime warranty. Charles & Colvard Created Moissanite® can be found in many colors but most are near-colorless and at a VG (very good) or G1 (good) clarity rating. Moissanite is lighter than diamonds and therefore typically sold by size rather than weight. If it is sold by weight, buyers can expect it to be 10% bigger than a diamond of the same weight. Moissanite is a brilliant and more affordable alternative to diamonds. Their creation provides jobs without damaging the environment. What woman wouldn’t love a bit of dazzling stardust from the one they love?

I am drowning in work and as much as I am thankful for the continued work, sometimes I wish I can take freeze frame my work and take some time off and just NOT work.. lol.. but then the moment I start to relax, it does feel like I need some form of hydraulic booster to get the momentum going again. It’s the same with blogging you know, I didn’t even realise that my last post was a Music Monday post and here is Monday all over again.. sigh.. time flies too fast for sure.

I am loving all my custom tote bags that I got from Sarawak especially this one that I got when visiting the Sarawak Cultural Visit. More story on that one in my other blog ok..

Anyway, here it is. It came in very handy too as I only brought my backpack on the trip and well, suffice to say without the tote bag, I’ll be in trouble as I would probably need to buy another bag home.. lol!

Here’s some good news for early birds.. or those striving to be early birds in Singapore. From 24th June 2013 onwards, The Land Transport Authority (LTA) will embark on a one-year trial program to encourage MRT travelers to travel early and arrive before 7.45am on weekdays to 16 designated MRT stations in the city area.

According to Singapore Promotion.com, the stations designated are:
Bugis, Chinatown, City Hall, Clarke Quay, Dhoby Ghaut, Lavender, Orchard, Outram Park, Raffles Place, Somerset, Tanjong Pagar, Bayfront, Bras Basah, Esplanade, Marian Bay and Promenade. Commuters must exit at any of the 16 designated stations in the city area by 7.45am on Monday to Fridays by (excluding public holidays) for that portion of the travel to be free.

I think that this is a great move to try to ease congestion during the peak period. Way to go Singapore!

burlap-fringed

I suddenly have the urge to crochet something after I found my box of unused yarns, needles and patterns the other day. I don’t think I would crochet anything difficult like a cardigan or anything (that is probably better knitted anyway), but I do feel a nice tablecloth would be nice after seeing some burlap round tablecloth here.

Oh well, we’ll see if I pick up the urge or whether it would just go off in time. I tend to get lazy sometimes too!

I found out a while back that my twitter account LadyJava does not show up whenever I add hastag to the tweet. For instance if I were to tweeting about #boldandbeautiful with my boldie buddy Marzie, her tweet will show up on the #boldandbeautiful timeline but mine won’t. The same goes if I have a ProjectLife hastag, it simply will not appear on their timeline. I read up on it and apparently there are some twitter account that twitter will not capture. My explanation is that twitter hates that account though that account has never been suspended coz whenever I retweeted a tweet by LadyJava using one of my other accounts, that tweet appeared nicely.. Argggh right?

Anyway, I thought nothing of it until I returned from my Kuching trip, and I wanted to add the #malindoair to my post and you guessed it, it simply will not appear in their timeline and I got even more frustrated when I see Emila’s post nicely tucked in there! So I decided that I should just create a new account, which I did call TheLadyJava. But then I realised that will not helped as it will take too long a time for it to garner followers etc etc..

twitter

So I did the next best thing… I switch my LJCreations one with LadyJava.. so now LJCreations has like 1003 followers while LadyJava has only 36.. boohoo.. I now need to refollow all my friends (don’t be surprised if I added you again.. i didn’t unfollow you, you are now just in another account) and I hope you guys will follow me back again ya.. Pretty please.. lol!

So basically if you were following @LadyJava before means now you are following @LJCreations instead and vice versa.. If possible of course I would like you to follow both but if you had to choose one, I would appreciate if you can follow @LadyJava :) Thanks so much

The best thing.. now I see my tweet on #malindoair timeline.. I am a happy camper.. lol!

malindoair_twitter

Oh I would probably just leave TheLadyJava handle alone for now.. probably make it private or something… who knows some smart #$$ might take it up and claim that they’re me :(

In Singapore, as part of a civic security plan, home owners are encourage to have transistor radio and torchlight in our homes. So in case of foreign attack or anything that might happen that might affect the electricity in our area, we are still able to listen to the radio for further instructions. Yes, call us paranoid, but we like to be prepared.. lol

So having said that I am beginning to think that I may need battery operated things in my home for emergency purposes as well. from radios to emergency lights to even candles perhaps, just like the ones shown here at www.batteryoperatedcandles.net. Not so much for foreign attack but rather more towards not having the house burn down!

battery operated

When you have pets that run around the house like a mad person, having an open flame is always dangerous. It might get knocked over and cause fire to the house, the pets might find the flame dancing around very interesting and want to touch it causing them to burn themselves.. or their tail might catch fire if they start swishing their tail around the flame.  The list continues of course but I don’t want to paint an unpretty picture today.

Suffice to say.. I need battery operated stuff in the my home :)

I love designing! I love it when clients give positive feedback and then start recommending me to others. That was how my online business started by the way. From word of mouth through satisfied customers. It also helped that each customer has like 3 or 4 websites or blogs that needed tweaking or a full new look, so repeat sales always happens. I am blessed that my work is my passion.

I am also diversifying my skills. From designing for online projects, I have also moved to printing. I am now not only doing banners and posters for websites and blogs, but I am designing huge posters for displays at exhibitions for my overseas clients. My portfolio has spread to include brochures, business cards, flyer designs and also postcard designs. I reckon my next big purchase needs to be some kind of poster printers or I need to form a business relationship with some poster printers either overseas or locally. This is because most times I need to see my draft on paper to see the proportion of text to images and I need to sometimes print them in color just to see if the blending works. Everything looks good on screen but in print it is a different case altogether sometimes, so it best to see it as such, IN PRINT.

Maybe I should just Tweet this post to find if someone out there wants to form an alliance with me as in I design, they print… that would be so awesome! You do know that ink cost a lot of money right? This way I don’t have to worry about ink and stuff.. smart me right?

Anyway, like I said earlier, I am very fortunate that I am enjoying my work. Who knows how long this will last but I am riding the wave as it goes :)
