The sun is shining; the birds are singing; the boots are going in the back of the closet. It’s officially summertime, and that means it’s also time to upgrade your shoe collection with something more suited to hot afternoons and days spent frolicking in the sand. What are your best footwear options for 2014? Here are a few ideas!

sneakers

1: Adissage Fade Slides

No summer is complete without a pair of sandals, so start things off with the latest offering from Adidas. These “massage-style” slides come with arch support and microfiber footbeds that make every step a pleasant tingle.

2: Men’s Bahama Boat Shoe

Cheaper than loafers but more comfortable than sneakers, boat shoes have long been a fashion icon for summertime. They’re perfect for everything from the beach to the basketball court, and they can be dressed up or down depending on the general outfit.

3: Polo Ralph Lauren Vaughn Canvas Sneakers

These soft leather shoes were all the rage in 2013, and they’re poised to make a comeback as canvas fashion continues to sweep the runways. Who doesn’t like Ralph Lauren, anyway?

4: New Balance Foam 980

Run in comfort and style with the Fresh Foam line from New Balance. Known for its plush, cozy underfoot design, you won’t find a better shoe for all your favorite outdoor sports!

5: Moab Ventilator

If you plan on hiking, biking or off-roading this summer, make sure to pick up a pair of Moab Ventilators. Not only are their synthetic fibers tough, durable and shock-absorbent, but their mesh uppers also keep things from getting too sweaty under the tongue.

6: KEEN Clearwater CNX

Don’t dive into the ocean without a pair of Clearwaters. Their microbe shields will protect your feet from all the fungi found in pools and open water, and their contoured arches give them a comfortable fit during all kinds of swimming and boating activities. They’re also machine washable after a long day in the sun and sand!

7: Women’s Gel-Noosa Tri 9

Ladies, these are for you. Gel-Noosas are specifically designed to lessen the wear and tear on women’s feet during high-impact exercise, offering perforated sockliners and DuoMax® technology for improved platform support. They aren’t too shabby-looking, either!

These are just a few ways to begin your summer shoe collection. Don’t fall into the trap of wearing nothing but flip-flops for the duration of the season: Your feet and your wardrobe deserve something better.

Cheerio…

Whether you are looking for something small to show your appreciation for a group or need something to give to an organization to recognize membership status, lapel pins are an idea. These small pins have come a long way in showing designs for various groups. You can get a few to give a small class, or you can order blank pins that you can customize and sell.

lapelpin

When you customize pins, you can make them showcase any brand you can imagine. One of the ways that you can showcase the pins that you make is at a trade show or industry event. Set up a table at the event so that you can display the pins as well as examples of brands that can be placed on the pins. You need to have prices where people can see them as well as a variety of sizes of the brands that can be made. This is a great way to reach numerous people at one time. You can have business cards to give to people or even a small brochure with examples of sizes and prices.

Another idea for lapel pins is charity organizations and fundraisers. If there is a special charity that you want to support, then consider donating the money raised from the sales of pins with the logo of the charity to the organization. The pins are a way to hold a fundraiser as you can sell the pins for a church or school. You can either have a box of pins for people to buy, or you can make an order sheet so that people can place an order for a specific pin. Keep a percentage of the money raised, and then give the rest to the group. If there is a sports banquet or school group such as an honor society, you can make pins the members. The pins can be attached to a certificate so that the member can keep the pin as a memento of hard work. They can also be attached to ribbons. Learn more about the pins by looking at information online.

If your roofing in Manchester, NH, is damaged, it can lead to a whole host of problems for your home. Your roof is responsible for protecting your house against the elements, and even the smallest problem can weaken its defenses. Websites like www.PyramidRoofingNE.com can help you learn how to identify problems with your roof so you can get it repaired as quickly as possible.

Do a Visual Inspection

It can be hard for some people to physically get up onto their roof, but this is often the best way of identifying problems like loose shingles or damaged flashing. If you can’t get up onto your roof yourself, have a roofing contractor do the inspection for you. If you decide to do the inspection yourself, make sure you check your roof thoroughly for any signs of moisture, mold, or rot. Look for any damaged areas and try to see if the damage is superficial or if it goes all the way down into your home. Don’t forget to check your gutters, since these can easily be pulled away from your home by wind or snow.

Look for Moisture

Inside your home, you can often spot roof problems by looking for signs of water damage. Go up into your attic with a flashlight and look for any mold, mildew, or standing water. You may even notice water spots on your walls or ceilings. Trace the water back to its source with your flashlight—the water will reflect the light, making it easier to follow. You might also notice a musty smell in your attic—this may be a sign of water damage that hasn’t become visible yet.

Watch Your Energy Bills

Another way to spot roof problems is by watching your energy bills. While these alone aren’t enough to diagnose a leaky roof, they can be a good indicator that something is wrong. If your roof is leaking, your heater or air conditioner will have to work much harder to compensate, and you will notice an unexplained hike in your energy bill. Find a local contractor on a website like www.PyramidRoofingNE.com who can check your whole house for leaks and other weak spots.
