There are many people who want to meet someone new so they can start a relationship. However, if people have a busy work schedule, combined with other family commitments, meeting people can prove to be a bit of a challenge. Fortunately, modern technology has made it possible for people to have a love life, while also balancing all of their other responsibilities. Dating sites first started showing up on the Internet almost as soon as it was created. In those days, dating sites were very primitive. The selection of people to choose from was nothing to write home about, primarily because most people did not know dating sites existed. Nowadays, millions of people around the world use dating sites on a daily basis. Here are just a few examples of how the Internet has changed dating.

1. Meet people outside of your area

Before the creation of the Internet, you could only meet people in your local area, or perhaps when you were on vacation. You were basically limited to the people in your immediate vicinity. However, online dating has changed all of that forever. The Internet gives you the ability to not only meet people in other states, but in other countries and regions of the world. You can now sign up to any of the literally hundreds of online dating sites and start contacting people on the other side of the world. Basically, your options in terms of dating are now limitless. If there is a specific ethnicity you are interested in dating, you do not have to struggle to find someone of that ethnicity in your hometown. You can now look for prospective mates in other countries. For example, you may want to date a Chinese person, but there are none where you live. However, you can search dating sites specifically for Chinese people. If you want to have some fun outside of your relationship, TheAffairSite can teach you how to have an affair (though I don’t recommend it of course).

2. Learn about people before you contact them

If you see someone you are attracted to in real life, you know nothing about them. All you know is that you like the way they look. This means that you will need to ask them many questions to find out about their life. However, if you meet people by using a dating website, much of the work is already done for you. For example, if you do not want to date a person with children, every profile on dating sites will tell you if the person has any children. If you prefer to date a non-smoker, online dating profiles will also tell you if the person smokes or not. This prevents you from wasting your valuable time introducing yourself to people you would not want to date.

3. Reduce first date nervousness

When you meet a person online, you will most likely be talking to them several times before you meet them in person. This will give you time to get to know the person very well before you are in the same room with them. This advance knowledge of the person’s personality makes it easier for people to deal with the stress often associated with a first date. People tend to be nervous because they want to put their best foot forward. While some nervousness will still be there, talking before the date will reduce it considerably.

Christmas is coming, so if you’ve got kids the sooner you can prepare, the better. Buying for kids gets harder and harder every year – is it just me, or do they already have everything they could possibly want? If you’re stuck on ideas, I have a few here that I think are really good. Some of them are set to be very popular gifts this year too. Take a look:

A Tablet

A tablet is a really good gift idea for the kids, as there are so many different things you can do with it. You can download books, games, or let them browse the web. It’s really multiple gifts in one! The only downside is that they can be quite expensive, so you might like to look for refurbished models or second hand models. You can buy different tablets depending on age, so make sure you do some research on the most popular tablet by age. This could even be a great gift for any adults you’re buying for.

Books

Books are always a brilliant gift to give, whatever the occasion. I think it’s a particularly good idea to give them to children and get them hooked on good literature as early on as possible! Books will help them to develop their reading skills, as well as communication, vocabulary, and even imagination.

A Game Console

Game consoles can be a wonderful gift, so long as you don’t let your kids spend hours and hours on them. Spending a small amount of time on them can actually help them to develop certain skills, such as problem solving and their reflexes. You can even buy games and consoles designed especially to help them develop. Make sure whatever you buy them is suitable for their age.

A Bike

All kids should own a bike! I have very fond memories of going out on my bike when I was a child, apart from that one time I fell off. Teaching your kids to ride a bike young is a good idea, and it’ll help them to stay fit and healthy. There are so many different types you can get depending on where you plan on taking them. You’ll need a bike to take them out with too. There are bikes designed to be used on rough terrain, and more classic looking bikes like these Shinola bicycles. Make sure you weigh up the pros and cons to find the right style for you.

Girltech Password Journal

The Girltech password journal is a great gift for little girls. I had something similar years ago and loved it! The voice technology is really cool and you encourage her to write down thoughts and feelings, which is another good skill to have.

Lego Star Wars

For any Star Wars fan, you have Lego Star Wars. Lego Star Wars is going to be one of the most popular gifts this year!

A Monster High Doll

Another gift said to be popular, the Monster High Doll. You can get lots of different characters, but I’d get yours soon before they sell out everywhere. Don’t say I didn’t warn you!

Happy Christmas shopping!

If you’re a parent, it’s important to protect your kids while they’re in the sun. Babies, toddlers and young children have very sensitive skin that can be easily damaged from the sun’s harmful ultraviolet (UV) rays. Here are some sun safety tips for kids.

Infants ( 0-6 months )

Infants under six months of age should be kept out of the sun completely. Their skin has very little melanin, pigment, and it’s too sensitive for sunscreen.

  • Use a stroller with a sun-protective cover
  • Take walks before 10 AM or after 4 PM
  • Dress the baby in lightweight clothing that covers the arms and legs, and a bonnet or wide-brimmed hat that protects the face, ears and neck.
  • In the car, use UV window film or removable mesh window shields to keep direct sunlight off of the baby.

Babies ( 6-12 months )

With all the great sun protection products, including chemical free sunscreen and tear-free formulas that won’t sting your baby’s eyes, it’s now safe to use sunscreen on babies within this age group.

  • Apply an SPF 15 or SPF 30 sunscreen to all uncovered skin areas, including the hands and feet. When using a spray, don’t apply it directly to the baby’s face. Spray it into your hands, then gently apply that to the baby’s face.
  • Apply sunscreen at least 30 minutes before going outdoors, and reapply it every two hours or immediately after swimming or sweating.

Toddlers and Young Children ( 1-6 years )

Protecting active toddlers and young children may require more effort than infants and babies. This age group loves to play outdoors and keeping up with them can be a challenge.

  • Use an SPF 15 or SPF 30 water-resistant sunscreen. For kids that don’t stay still long, try a spray-on sunscreen. Spray your hands first, then apply it to their face avoiding the eyes.
  • Try to schedule outdoor activities before 10 AM or after 4 PM. If your child attends pre-school, this may not be possible, so make sure there’s adequate shade on the playground.
  • Provide protective clothing. Some children’s clothing has an Ultraviolet Protection Factor (UPF) that’s shown on the label. Look for a UPF 30 or higher for adequate protection.

Studies done by The Skin Cancer Foundation show that 22 percent of children get sunburned during their first summer, and 54 percent during their second summer. Protect your kids now from sun damage that can show up later in life.
