Many of us have an obsession with celebrities. We might have favorite singers, actors, or just people who are famous for being famous. While plenty of people go about their day without ever caring about famous people, others are much more interested. If you have a favorite musician or actor, you probably want to know as much as you can about them. That doesn’t mean you necessarily want to learn all about their private life. But maybe you wish to hear everything they’re willing to tell you. There are severals ways you can find out all about the people you admire. Try the things below to learn more about the celebrities you love most.

Read Biographies and Autobiographies

Celebrities often write books about their lives and careers. These autobiographies can be an excellent source to discover as much as possible. They might write about their childhood or different stages of their career. Some books are very focused on what they do for work, whereas others are much more personal. You can also read biographies written by other people. These might be written by someone who is a close friend, or perhaps an expert in the field. When you choose which books to read, it’s best to look for approved biographies. You then know that the information will be more accurate. However, even autobiographies might not be completely accurate, especially if they’re ghost-written.

Follow Them on Social Media

The age of social media has made it much easier to get closer to your favorite celebrities. You can like them on Facebook or follow them on Twitter. Some people have their accounts run by a PR person, rather than doing it themselves. Others might not use their social media channels very often. But some celebrities make excellent use of their different pages, and they can give you insight into their lives. Following them on social media allows you to see their personal thoughts and feelings about different matters. Although this can get them in hot water, it can be exciting. You could even end up having a conversation with them, and have them follow you back.

Check Their Stats and Background

You don’t have to read books to find out the essentials about someone famous. If you want to learn all the basic information about them, you can check heightline and other sites. You can find their physical statistics, such as their height, weight and hair and eye color. There are also places to read about their family and origins. You can learn all about their background online. Many people use Wikipedia to learn about people, but you have to be careful. Just about anyone can change an article, so you could end up with inaccurate information.

Watch, Listen to and Read Interviews

If you want to hear things straight from your favorite celeb’s mouth, pay attention to their interviews. They should do plenty of them when they’re promoting their work. But work won’t be all they talk about, and they’ll reveal other tidbits too. Keep track of when they’re going to be on TV or do an interview for a magazine or YouTube video. You can set up a Google Alert with their name, so the latest news comes straight to your inbox.

Get Involved with Other Fans

Joining in with other fans of a particular celebrity can have pros and cons. On the plus side, you can all share information you learn and photos you find. However, it can also mean that rumors will easily break out. You can trust someone when they pass on some information, but it could turn out to be completely untrue. If you do swap stories with other fans, you should try to get sources to back up what people are saying. It will help you avoid believing things that aren’t accurate.

Analyze Their Work

Celebrities don’t just walk around being famous all the time – or, at least, most of them don’t. Most of them have day jobs, whether that’s acting, making music, or something else. You can learn a lot about them through their work. And presumably, what they do is a big part of why you like them! For example, you might spend time listening to the lyrics of a songwriter’s new album. You might pay attention to their acting choices in one of their movies or take a closer look at their novels.

You can learn a lot about a celebrity without ever getting too invasive. Use all of these methods and you’ll soon know about all your favorite people.

There’s a new effort in charity that’s helping to bring cities to life. Rather than just giving people money or giving them something to eat, the new effort is based around the prospect of giving people something to do and something to hope for. Specifically, many charities are now finding out that one of the best ways to promote hope and liveliness in a city is to use music. Specifically, street pianos have become a major think in cities across the country. In cities like New York, Denver, and even Kansas City, street pianos are popping up to provide people with purpose.

The idea behind the street pianos in New York is relatively simple. These are pianos that are donated by various charity groups. They are sometimes painted in wild colors in order to draw attention. They’re then put in random places around cities, hoping to draw random piano players who will provide the city with lively music. In many cities, musicians will come to play for free, just giving the people a show that they wouldn’t have otherwise gotten to experience.

One of the upsides of the street pianos is the ability to give the homeless something to do with their time. In some cities, homeless people receive lessons on how to play those pianos from random musicians. This, in turn, can allow the homeless people to make money from people passing by who appreciate the music. In addition, the project celebrates the goodness of music and how it connects all people. People of all different backgrounds can come to appreciate good music that comes out of a piano set on a street somewhere. The basic premise behind the pianos is to connect people and get them thinking about their shared humanity.

There is, of course, a second benefit to the street pianos. In many places, these pianos help to bring a life and exuberance to the city that might not have otherwise existed before. This can attract people into downtown areas, helping businesses meet their goals. It’s the sort of win-win situation that has long been the goal of many charities around cities like New York. With the new street pianos, those charities seem to be hitting a home run, adding something for everyone while providing purpose and meaning for people who would otherwise have very little to cling to.

If there is one thing that a musical artist wants, it’s a Grammy Award. Known for honoring the best in the entertainment industry every year, the awards go to those who the board recognizes as being in the best in their genres. Artists generally do not know who will win until presenters take the stage and open the envelopes, the show also awards some artists will special awards and lets them know in advance of their award. Next year’s show plans to honor George Harrison and a variety of other artists.

Lifetime Achievement Awards

Music fans like Jordan Kurland may know George Harrison for his work with The Beatles, but after that group disbanded, he found success as a solo artist. In addition to releasing a number of albums over the years, he also produced music for others and recorded songs for films. Harrison is just one of the artists who will receive a Lifetime Achievement Award. The show also plans to honor blues musician Buddy Guy with a Lifetime Achievement Award. Fans of the disco group The Bee Gees will see that same group receive an award for the impact they had on music over the years.

Trustees Awards

The Lifetime Achievement Awards aren’t the only special awards handing out during the Grammy presentation. Fans of certain artists like Kurland will also enjoy the Trustees Awards handed out to those who work behind the scenes and don’t necessarily record music. Barry Mann and his wife Cynthia Weil spent years writing top songs for others, and the songwriting duo will receive one of these special awards. Richard Perry, who many insiders know for his work as a record producer, will also receive a Trustees Award. The Grammy show will also award Ray Kurzweil with a special Technical Grammy Award for the work he did as an inventor of musical equipment.

Televised Show

Those who watch the Grammy Award show live might miss out on some of the action associated with these special awards. The artists recognized attend a special celebration and receive their awards prior the live show. At the next televised show, the awards plan to air some of the moments from that previous show and recognize the winners in other ways. Fans of Harrison and other recording artists and those who enjoy the people working behind the scenes watch the Grammy Awards show live.

Me and Azwaj are on our second season of Arrow and we are loving it so far. Unlike some heroic shows, I find Arrow more realistic in the sense that this hero acknowledge he needs help in certain things and sometimes he does lose the villain and some innocent people do get killed. So anyone watched it yet?

This post is about the leading woman in the show, Laurel. Yeap she is the love of Oliver’s life but because of the circumstances, they can never be. Anyhow, in this second season, Laurel has definitely lost a lot of weight, so much so she is to the point of being skinny.. Me and Azwaj both agree that she looks so much better in the first season.

Check out the image below:

What do you think? Too skinny right?

We just recently moved and this time Azwaj decided to put up some of old posters up in the home office. It will not only serve as decor for sure but also will serve as a soundproofing the room somewhat so it won’t disturb the neighbours when he plays his guitars.

On of them is this one by the band “Guns and Roses” with the words “For what my opinion’s worth, Gibson are the best sounding and best looking guitars.. Period”. I wonder if he bought his cool gibson electric guitars at musicians friend?

john cena is not dead

I was scrolling down my facebook timeline when I saw a shocking status from a friend of mine. It says “World renowned wrestler John Cena has died as a result of a head injury suffered while attempting a stunt with Dwayne Johnson a.k.a. The Rock”.  I’ve always enjoyed wrestling and Jhon Cena is one awesome wrestler. Of course I immediately Googled to see if the news was true (and finding some awesome adidas wrestling shoes along the way” but apparently the news was a hoax. So… John Cena is NOT dead people.

This kind of fake rumors are not uncommon in the celebrity world, however, the one (circulated in Facebook) had a link which lead to a Facebook app. Who knows what awaits the unsuspecting social media customers who were eager to find out more about the news. I actually clicked on the link myself but seeing it was an apps, I quickly exit and look for other way to verify the news.

Did anyone install the Facebook app? What happened?

Since I’ve been married to Azwaj, I am learning all sorts of musical products. I’m not just referring to the equipment like guitars, bass, drums and keyboards that primarily make up the basic band but I am also learning about the “behind the scene” equipments like the boomerang phrase sampler for instance. According to Azwaj, with this equipment he can go up on stage and make it sound like there are at least two other players alongside with him. Awesome eh? Check out the video below to know more. I learnt something new today.. yeay!

When I first heard of voodoo labs, I thought.. “WOW.. are people still practicing voodoo and wow there is now a lab for it? Has it gone scientific? ” lol.. Little did I know that it is actually a brand that is well known by many musicians. Azwaj, the hubs, included. Apparently they designs and manufactures electronics for professional recording and touring musicians. Now we know :)

I don’t normally watch Malay movies however when the lead actor is as talented, hot and yummy as Aaron Aziz, an actor from my homeland, and the actress is as pretty as Maya Karin, I, LadyJava, makes an exception and spent about 2hrs watching the very romantic Malay movie “Ombak Rindu” .. lol!

aaron aziz

Aaron Aziz

Based on a novel of the same title, “Ombak Rindu” tells a story of a young lady saved from prostitution by her very wealthy first client who later somehow felt guilty, bought her from her pimp, married and fell in love with her. It tell of the challenges they face to stay together and of course their happily ever after :). If you are a die hard romantic and love happy endings, then this film is for you.

ombak-rindu

A romantic moment between Hariz and Izzah

The story line in itself is simple and nothing to rave about, .. fortunately, Aaron Aziz makes the 2hrs worthit..lol!! (Yeah.. am only human mah..).. plus the scenery from the movie is simply amazing. I don’t know where the movie was shot but I want a house just like the one Hariz and Izzah (characters from the show) lived in. It’s like living in resort and waking up the sound of the sea will be simply awesome.

Anyway, here’s the theme song from the movie. Enjoy!

The crowd turnout wasn’t great but  that didn’t dampen the enthusiasm of whoever was there and most importantly Whitesnake didn’t fail to rock the house down on Sunday, 30th October at the Putra Indoor Stadium, !!!! The six “virgin” boys (as David Coverdale called themselves as it was their first time in Malaysia) belted out favorite tunes like “Is this Love”, “Here We Go Again”, “Still of the night” and “Fool for your Loving” making the crowd go wild, myself included.. lol!

My camera phone couldn’t take any good video that night but I did find this one on youtube. I was so rocking to this song. Can you hear my voice? hehe..

If I wasn’t a fan before I WOULD be a fan now.. yeap they were that GREAT! The energy that was given out on stage, their persona and David’s voice (OMG his voice!!) really makes Whitesnake my all time fav rock band. Doug Alridge on guitar was insanely skilled and awesome, for lack of better words, Orgasmic!…. and Brian Tichy on drums takes drumming on to a whole new level. Aiyayaya.. how I wished I was in Singapore tomorrow for an encore. Listen up Singaporeans… you are in for a TREAT.. get your tickets NOW!

Here are some pictures from that night..they are FOREVERMORE etched in my memory!!! Thank you WHITESNAKE!!!!!

whitesnake concert in MalaysiaIt’s only 12.27am and I’m sleepy. I think I slept through my whole Saturday and yet I feel like I can just put on my pajamas and go to bed right now. Not sure what’s going on but I think it might because of this cold and the fact that CW is here is not helping.

Anyway, the concert that both me and Azwaj are looking forward to is tonight! Yeap WHITESNAKE is playing TONIGHT and if not for the fact that A knows the stadium well, we would have installed one best trucker gps inside the car to make sure we won’t get lost on the way to the stadium.. lol!

Have a great Sunday all, I know both me and Azwaj will!

One thing I love about not being online is that I don’t feel guilty when I watch my dvds. I had this one ‘Music and Lyrics” for some time now and I never really gotten around to watching it simply because I got so many things going on when I’m online!

Anyway.. when I was back in SG I made a point of watching the movie and I absolutely adore it.. Let me rephrase that.. I ADORE AND LOVED IT! Can you belived I watched it everyday that I was in SG?! Both Hugh Grant and Drew Barrymore were awesome actors and Hugh.. OMG Hugh.. he can really sing and jive.. lol!

I was amazed at his voice and he really pulled of the dancing scene as well.. can you tell.. I just adore him.. never did before.. but this movie made me change my mind.. lol!

I found out today from an article online that he actually did sing all the songs and play the instruments as well.. Kudos Hugh!! eheh.. And since I love the article so much.. I’m gonna put it right here so you guys can read it too…

If you think any of Hugh Grant̢۪s answers in this article are serious, it̢۪s because sarcasm and humor don̢۪t always translate well in print.

Hugh Grant on His Pop Star Moves: Although Grant didn’t offer the media a sampling of his moves, he was happy to know people are definitely appreciating his wiggles and thrusts in Music and Lyrics. â€Å“I’m glad you liked them. It was misery for me. I don’t play the piano, I don’t sing, and I definitely don’t dance. They can teach you to sing a bit and the computer can put you in tune and they can teach you to play the piano, but nothing, nothing can make you move like a pop star if you haven’t got it in you.

I used to go to these choreography sessions… There’s a brilliant choreographer on the film who did all these big numbers and we just used to stand there looking at each other. He would put the music on and say, ‘Go, just go. Just do your own thing.’ And I would say, ‘I have no thing. There’s nothing to come out.’ And in the end I had to rely heavily on the makeup woman bringing me what looked like a 7-Up bottle but was in fact whiskey….”

The tight jeans also played a key role in Grant’s pop star transformation. â€Å“Actually, it helps a little bit. I must say when I got into my costume, I thought, ‘Yeah, quite sexy.’ Especially with those high heels.”

Preparing for Music and Lyrics: â€Å“I was doing piano and singing for probably two months before we started shooting and while we were shooting. I had a little piano in my trailer and I used to do it by myself at night. Singing that is… I would sing long into the night.

It’s a curious thing. It is one of those rare examples where practice does actually make you probably better, I’ve found. It’s all confidence, I’m sure you know. It’s weird. People just say, ‘Just go for it,’ and that’s the hard thing. You can’t just go for it if you’ve got no confidence. But this strange procedure where they record you and then fiddle it so it actually sounds pretty good… The more they do that, the more you think, ‘I can relax now because whatever happens, I’m going to end up sounding good,’ and then you start to sound good on your own.”

Don̢۪t Look for Grant to Transition to Singing When He̢۪s Done Acting: Barrymore says Grant sang a cappella and it sounded really good. In fact, Barrymore, who plays Grant̢۪s onscreen love interest in Music and Lyrics, went as far as to say he sounded beautiful. However Grant himself says it̢۪s all due to how his voice was finessed in the editing process.

â€Å“I heard a lot of the singing beforehand because you work for days and days to do these recordings. It’s not how I imagined it,” Grant said about watching the finished film for the first time. â€Å“I mean, you must sing every song about a thousand times and then they take one syllable that you might happen to have got vaguely right, and they stitch it together with another syllable. Literally, it’s that fine. Then they put it through the machine 1,600 different ways and tune you and put what they call ‘slap’ – which is sort of an echo effect, which makes you sound better. It’s unbelievable. By the time they finish doing that, and you’ve learned that you can do it, you actually do sing better anyway. You get more relaxed. You think, ‘They can fix this.’”

And Theatre’s Not in His Future Either: Singing and dancing in Music and Lyrics didn’t convince Grant he should sign up to star in a West End musical. â€Å“I’m not very good in the theatre,” admitted Grant. â€Å“I don’t like watching plays. I don’t like being in them very much. But I have learned to love the sound of my own singing voice.”

No Music, No Plays…: So how does Grant fill his free time since he doesn’t listen to music or take in an occasional play. â€Å“Oh, I don’t know,” answered Grant. â€Å“I sit around and moan. I play a bit of golf and I see my friends and read a book. Actually, I watch films.”

Grant did train in the theatre but he’s put it behind him now. â€Å“Yeah, I did a lot of plays, but to be really honest with you, I think doing a play is quite fun. It’s watching a play that is utter misery. That’s why I couldn’t really justify going on acting in the theatre because I just knew that these poor bastards paid a lot of money and were having a horrible time sitting out there watching. Let’s be honest. One time in 50 is actually fun in the theatre. The other 49 times you’re thinking, ‘Bring on my gin and tonic in the intermission.’”

The Attraction of Working Opposite Drew Barrymore: â€Å“Drew was the perfect person for this thing. I sat down with Mark [Lawrence, writer/director] and we watched every romantic comedienne working at the moment, and it was quite clear it had to be Drew. She’s got incredible charm… She’s not a charming person in real life, charming on the screen [said in a joking manner]. No, she’s just perfect, perfect for the part, and very kind and supportive to an extremely grumpy, difficult actor.”

Grant Doesn’t Play Favorites: Because he doesn’t have any when it comes to bands and songs. â€Å“It’s a very short answer: I’m a fraud and a charlatan in this film, because I have no interest in music. I never have had. I don’t have any records. I never play music, so it’s very difficult for me to tell you my favorite song. Sorry.”

In Keeping with the Film’s Valentine’s Day Release: Asked if he really gets into Valentine’s Day Grant joked, â€Å“Yeah, I take it extremely seriously. If I don’t get a lot of cards and things, I get crabby. I like a lot of attention. At school there was a system where you put things in letter boxes, which was weird because it was an all boys’ school (laughing).”

This is the version that Hugh sang with the “hot” singer Cora in her concert and the one below is the demo version where we hear he sings with Drew.. both are awesome.. so take a listen ya!

Ever since the internet interruptions and the connection being so slow and all, Azwaj and me decided that it time to be couch potatoes and catch up on our movies instead. I agreed as what took me about two hours or so daily to drop my EC cards, it is now taking triple the time and even so, sometimes the widgets won’t even show! I literally had chest pain while waiting for that swirling thingy to stop, signaling that the page had finished loading :(.. I even had to disable my greasemonkey plugin so that Firefox would load faster, hence the lack of emoticon on this post.

Anyway, back to the movie part. Whenever we watched movies, we normally like to set the ambiance. So the rooms would be darken, curtains closed, there’ll be snacks like pastries, crackers and drinks all ready on the coffee table.

All Roads Lead Home The Movie was one that we saw and I absolutely loved it! I shall not dwell into the story lines as I don’t want to spoil it for you guys but it is a definite must watch family or even couple movie. Get ready to laugh and cry at the same time. So standby with those kleenex ya.

Here’s the trailer to whet your appetite! Enjoy!
