A representative from a local bank called today asking to talk to me and starting yapping about this investment invite-only opportunity. My first question to her was “Err.. do you know that I am an foreigner and how did you get my name and number?”. She said yes, she knew I was a foreigner and that she got my name off some database (she talked so fast I didn’t catch the name). Anyway.. she went on to explain the investment and how most of her clients all invested RM100,000 and that they would all get RM200,000 after eight years or something to that effect. I actually switched off after the RM100,000 bit. I asked her what was the minimum investment she told me RM50,000.. hmm… I thanked her and told her I was not interested.

Wondering now, what database I’m on that lets these rep to think I got RM100,000 lying around.. hmm…

thermometerIt rained yesterday.

Heavy, thunderstorm rain that started early in the morning and only stopped around 9.00pm. Though the thermometer on the wall shows 22 degrees Celsius, it sure felt like it was 18 degrees or something. Kinda makes me wish we had a furnace around instead of needing to wear this sweater that makes me look like a sick woman! Lol!

I won’t even mind having to pay for the furnace filters!

If you know me well, you’d know that apart from good bargains, I love free stuff. It doesn’t matter if I don’t need it (eg. ping pong table) or I don’t have use for it, if it’s free, chances are I want it!.. and WANT is a BIG word for me! LOL.

Currently I’m collecting stamps from the hypermart Giant for some cookware. It’s not that I don’t already have what they are offering but again, remember that BIG word “WANT”? So because of that I am diligently collecting the stamps. I would get 1 stamp for every RM30 purchase and the expiration for the offer is in February 2o1o so I reckon I will earn enough to at least get the medium size saucepan.. which would require 190stamps and a payment of RM9.90! LOL!

Wish me luck and if you have stamps that you don’t need from Giant, pass them along to me ok! ahhaahh

I hate people that play those very loud fireworks. Not only are they illegal, they are also dangerous! I mean those sparklers are fine but not those firecrackers kind of thing. I keep getting shock from the loud explosion that sometimes I totally forgot what I was doing because I was too shocked. I was telling Azwaj that I could easily had a heart attack if I had a heart condition.

Right now some inconsiderate people are having a field day exploding some right now. I can’t even get some peace looking at a site with Mopar performance parts and if these loud explosion cause me to burn my Rendang, I’m going to get violent for sure!

Can you guess where this video was taken from? If you guess that it was from my front corridor.. you’re 100% correct.

Monkeys are a common sight at my new apartment building simply because I have a forest for a front yard. You can find them at parking lot roof top, crossing the road and even at the ledge of my corridor (though they are not loitering around now since we’ve moved in). The residents here are so used to them that they don’t seem to pay any attention to their presence. I’m still new here so my phobia is still fresh out of the box. I’ll let you know if I get used to them soon or not.. hehheeh

…. because I have a forest for my front door! See the map below? See the forest that is just next to our new apartment?

Don’t get me wrong.. I LOVE our new apartment. It’s quiet, it’s peaceful, it has a resort feel and fresh air BUT it also has monkeys! Vicious monkey in my opinion. Though according to A, they are more scared of me as I am of them. I beg to differ. I am horrified and terrified of them.

Just yesterday, we went out for early dinner and when we returned to the new apartment, it was around 6.30pm. That apparently was their feeding time too. As we approached our front door, we saw this HUGE monkey on the ledge of our corridor!! Horrors upon horrors he panicked when he saw us and did not know what to do.. he started to move towards us.. trying to find an escape route but when I screamed he panicked! He ran off to where he came from and started climbing up the water pipes and up to the next floor..

He, then joined his friends who was on the ledge of the same floor as us but on the other side and started taunting us! A was naturally mad while I was mad too.. with FEAR!!! I could have sworn I would have fainted if they came towards us..

I hurriedly opened the front door and gave a stick to A to chase them away.. He did but they did not seemed to waiver. A said it was probably because they smelled the fear coming from me and that was also the reason why they started to taunt us.. Argh.. I need me some pepper spray!!

See.. they are everywhere.. though during certain times only

I HATE MONKEYS!!

I love our new apartment, I really do but what I don’t love are the lizards and ants that come with it. Thank God for bathroom safety that Abah had made sure exist in the bathroom otherwise for sure I would slip and fall when I saw the size of the lizard looking at me while I peed! I guess that could easily be settled with the pest control.

However, one other thing that really bugged me are the monkeys. The apartment that I’m moving to is very surrounded by woods and with woods or forest or whatever you called them, comes monkeys. They come out during the evenings looking for food. A said they are most probably afraid of me more than me of them but I beg to differ as they always have this vicious look about them. I’ll for sure be carrying an umbrella each time I leave the house in case I need to scare them away!

A few days back we decided to check out ProtonXchange program. Basically the program was to offer potential customers a RM5000 voucher for cars that are 10years old and above to be offset with a new Proton car (minus their new model the Proton Exora).

As Azwaj’s Citroen is over 10years old, we thought it was a good deal. However, the terms are pretty strict. They just don’t want an old car but they want a WORKING and road worthy car meaning that the car got to go through the JPJ inspection, has a valid road tax and insurance cover. Now I’m wondering if our car is working well and road worthy.. why would I want a new car in this time of economic crisis? Go figure right?

Anyway, Azwaj is still thinking and since his Citroen does not have valid road tax or insurance right now (it’s has been sitting at the parking lot for a long time now), I guess he will think some more :)

So after being in front of the pc for a good 24hours, both me and A decided that for dinner we were going to make it a tv dinner kinda thing. If it were up to A, we would probably be watching either the National Geographic or the History Channel but I was not going to have that. I grabbed the remote control and started flipping channels.

We ended up watching the launch of the Proton Exora on TV1 and all I can say is, it was worth the wait after listening to three different speakers! LOL!

The first ever Malaysian 7-seater MPV, Proton Exora, was really nice to look at and from what was revealed in terms of car accessories and such, it was really a value for money as well. In fact, Azwaj is thinking of getting one!! hehehe..

What do you think?

It rained suddenly tonight as Azwaj and myself were having dinner at our usual joint. The place is very close to both Azwaj’s office and our home but since we didn’t want to get wet on the motorbike, we decided to just wait the rain out.

From where we sit we can see the parking lot easily and as Azwaj wanted to see if his partner would come tonight, we were actively sneaking looks at that area. At around 10pm (the supermarket had just closed, so the parking lot was empty) I saw this man exited his car and head towards a lane that Azwaj and I used on several occasions to the stall that we were eating at. It’s small lane formed by one of the supermarket’s wall and some flower beds. Anyway, he went straight with purpose to the wall and faced it. I was like “hmm”.. and asked Azwaj if he see what I saw.

Me: Hey do you think he’s peeing on that wall?

Azwaj: No way!! His hands are both on his waist. No way he can pee like that, without holding his organ.

Me: You sure? Coz what else can he be doing facing the wall like that in the middle of the night?

Azwaj: Hmmm

And then.. we saw the man correcting his stand and his pants and it seemed what he did was he placed his pants on his bum in a way so that he did not have to hold his organ while he peed. Wah.. such an expert!

Needless to say, we won’t be using that lane anymore!

I think it would be remiss of me if I don’t at least mention something about the massive landslide over at Bukit Antarabangsa in Selangor that happened on Saturday, 6 December 2008 at 3.30am, just two days before Hari Raya Haji. The incident has claimed the life of four people so far.

Friends of mine living in the area has been forced to move out of their houses. One of them only managed to grab some clothing, cellphone, his passport and his harmonica and had to take shelter at the mosque. He even had to leave his car behind as no vehicles are allowed to use the roads. Another one has moved out to stay with his sister as there had been some land movement in the area as well.

My condolence to all those that had lost their loved ones and my sympathy to all those involve in the incident. My prayers are with you.

I am thinking of opening a current account with Al-Rajhi bank because it would be so much easier to write myself a cheque and deposit it into my other bank’s current or savings accounts then to keep going to their ATM machine to withdraw my paypal money. However to do that, I need an introducer. That’s the weird thing about Malaysian banks, they almost always needs introducer to open any form of current account. We never needed one in Singapore (I assume it is still the same right ECL?).

Anyway, any Al-Rajhi’s current account holder out there willing to introduce me? Contact me ok? Thank you so much!

We were out with friends yesterday for dinner when he asked us if we have filled up on petrol before the prices goes up at midnight. We asked him why and he told us coz the prices will go up by RM0.78 per litre at midnight!

Then, on the way to the petrol stations on our way home, there was massive traffic jam on roads leading to any petrol filling station. Azwaj decided to forget topping up as the traffic was horrendous .Cars were bumper to bumper and traffic was hardly moving at all. What would normally take us half an hour, took up close to 1.5hrs to reach home! Anyway, here’s the picture that I managed to click while passing one petrol station. This was taken around 9pm.

Anyway, I wanted to post this last night when I got home but I was too sleepy and thought I take a “cat nap” first but I ended up with a “lion nap” and woke up this morning instead! gelakguling

Did you manage top up last night?

I was in the mood to call people today. I sat in front of Miss Fly, with my pending file in one hand and the phone in another.

First I called the pharmacy to put in order for my mom’s Seretide accuhaler as I’m going back to SG next week. Then I called the furniture company to confirm Azwaj’s client’s order for the computer and the coffee tables. No, we don’t sell furniture but it was part of the contract that we won to supply those together with the equipment order.

After that I decided to check up on my Permanent Residence application. I put in this request in June 2006. Azwaj went for the interview in Dec 2006 and we got confirmation of the receipt of application in April 2007 and till now, no news. Hence, I decided to see what’s going on.

After several attempts, I finally spoke to an officer. She was kind and patient as I stammer throught my official Malay..lolzz!!..

Officer: We have your application in the system but you have got to wait for your queue number.
LJ: How long before that happens?
Officer: Oh your application is very new and it will take a while. Still got lots of applicants before you. So please continue with your social visit pass.
LJ: Ok. so when should I call again to check on the status?
Officer: Call back in 2-3 years time

My mood to continue calling others ended.
