This weekend is an eating weekend. It started with mommy cooking crabs and cockles upon my arrival. I then had my 25th high school reunion dinner yesterday and later tonight we have a seafood dinner treat from my niece, who just got her first paycheck. Wow, at the rate I’m eating, I definitely need a session of colon cleansing when I get home next week.

So if I forget, can someone please remind me?

I’m looking forward to my high school reunion this evening. Arrangements have been made and I’ll be going with two of my former classmates. I’m excited to say to say the least and if I had one of those pulse oximeters, I’d take my pulse and document it just to show you how excited I am.. lol!

I heard the headcount is around 40 people so that is a great many friends to catch up with. Am I ready? You betcha!

I was busy checking my credit reports when I saw a message from my former secondary school classmate on facebook. It was about  our school 25th reunion on 29th May at the school premises. To say the least, I’m excited for sure and since it’s still early, I can still decide if I wanted to go or not.

The thing is, I’ve no plans to go back to Singapore yet due to my workload, but this might just be the trigger for me to start planning a trip back eh? Besides by last trip was in late January and I’m already missing mommy..

foodSingapore has this program whereby the moment you reach 40 of age, the government would fully subsidize you to go through a heath screening program, namely test for obesity, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes and cervical cancer. I was going to do it the last time I went back but I was so pressed for time so I will plan one when I return on my next trip.

The test that I really would like to take is the high cholesterol one as I really love my red meat, cheese and fatty food. I’m planning to reduce cholesterol intake but I guess if I know what my level is, I’ll be more motivated so to speak..heheh

It has been so hot lately that it sure feels like I’m on some jamaica vacations or something. I think living on a hilly area back home really spoilt me and I can’t take the heat very well nowadays.

Anyway, I had to renew my Singapore’s home fire insurance which expired recently. You got to love Singapore because it only cost me a premium of SGD3.10 for a period of five years. Of course it doesn’t cover the contents of my home but it covers repairs of up to SGD26,000 on all damages on HDB structures, which may cost a bomb!

I also went to my bank to settle the issue about my non-deliverance text message for my online banking and they suggested that I get an “OTP-token” instead, so that’s done :).. Yeay!

Got my ticket home and am on the bus later today at 7.30am… KL here I come!

Hello peeps! Yeap.. it’s me.. blogging from Singapore.. and not because of Mr Nice Guy (MNG) but because now there is prepaid internet access in Singapore!

I’ve mentioned before that I was researching on this topic online so I already sort of got some of the information but nothing really beats talking to a real life person behind the counter. Soo.. before checking out on what was on sale at my favorite hangout “Parkway Parade”, I went to check out Starhub and Singtel first and this is what I found.

Starhub MaxMobile Prepaid:

  • Offers package ranging from 1 hour to 5 days at two speeds of 2Mbps and 7.2Mbps.
  • For five days consecutive access at 7.2Mbps, I would have to pay SGD25. Cheap right? But the download is capped at 2GB only per day. Once you burst that, you have the wait for the next day to continue your work.
  • If you are not a heavy user and you just do the emailing and a little bit of blog update, dropping of EC and Adgitizing then this might be the package for you

Verdict: Definitely NOT for me as I need UNLIMITED access ..hahahhaha

SingTel BroadBand On Mobile

  • Startup Prepaid card that would let you surf 3 days consecutively together with a USB Modem that supports download speed of up to 3.6Mbps cost SGD99 while the one with USB Modem that supports 7.2Mbps would cost SGD128.
  • If you already got a USB modem then you just have to pay SGD18 for the startup card
  • UNLIMITED access!!! (Yaho0000!)
  • Top up options: SGD10 for 2 days or SGD20 for 5 days via Visa/Mastercard online
  • You card is valid for 3 months from the activation date.

So can you guess which package I got? I reckon even if I surf more than 4hours a day I’m already saving lots of money as the cyber cafe downstairs charge me SGD3 an hour and this plan only cost me $5 a day!

prepaid

Awesome to the power of infinity I say!! lol!! So I guess you guys don’t have to miss me eh? lol!

While waiting for a client to review my design, I’m dropping EC, Adgitizing and, believe it or not, packing!

I usually have a checklist of all the stuff I need to bring along with me, like power adapter for my phone and my digital camera, my medicine pouch and headset for my laptop, Miss Fly, in case I wanted to play computer games or watch a dvd and don’t want to disturb mommy dearest.

This time, however, my packing list included some stuff that’s not mine. My mommy wanted me to bring over the excess stuff that she bought on her last visit here. One of them was this infant travel bed that she bought for my cousin’s daughter who’s due to give birth in March. Lucky for me, it’s compact and lightweight and can fit into my own traveling bag. In fact if I had a kids, this would be the perfect travel bed for my precious baby :)

Ok.. I leave you now while I seriously finished stuffing all these into my bag coz once the packing is done, I still have to do some research on prepaid internet service in Singapore. I heard that my prepaid phone provider has that service now though I got to buy a USB modem of some sort. Oh well… like I say.. more research :)

I’m so pissed!

I’m pissed because I need to do my online banking for my Singapore bank and the stupid OTP number that is supposed to come via my Singapore phone number did not arrive at all! Not even after I got back from getting electrical supplies for Abah today! I thought perhaps there was something wrong with my autoroam service but upon sending a test message, I know for sure there is nothing wrong with my roaming facility. Come on.. now I will for sure incur late charges and it’s not even my fault!

Oh this bank is so gonna get it when I come back to Singapore on Friday.

Hello hello.. did anyone missed me? LOL!

So here I am.. in sunny Singapore and just managed to get online today so am just checking in to see if I got any urgent emails. I’m afraid MNG wasn’t anywhere in sight so surfing at home was totally out of the question and this cyber cafe does not have the best or the fastest machine.. I will check to see if I can bring Miss Fly next time and hook up to their network.. otherwise.. this may be the only time you see me online here.. :(

Whatever it is.. am having a grand time with mommy here. Eating and shopping and shopping and eating.. lol! I’m sure when I get back to KL, I really got to start looking at all the best diet pills that is available out in the market right now. LOL!!

Just got my ticket online and will be back to KL on Sunday.. so if I don’t see you guys before that.. Selamat Berpuasa to all my Muslim friends!!

I just logged into my Takaful insurance/investment account today and I nearly fainted. My investment which was for SGD9,500 is now down to SGD5,800! Of course if I just leave it there and I pass on, my beneficiary would still get the SGD11,000 insured but still looking at the number right now, I think I need to find some other term life insurance quotes just to be on the safe side.

Times are bad!!!!

As you guys know I was just back in my Singapore home and as usual after a 4 months absence, my snailmail box is over the roof. Here are just some of them:

  1. Since I am approaching 40 in March, I got an offer from NTUC Income for the ElderShield Scheme. Uwah!!! Eldershield is an affordable severe disability insurance scheme which provides basic financial protection tho those who need long-term care, especially in old age. It provides a monthly cash payout of $400 for a maximum of 72 months to help pay the out-of-pocket expenses for the care of those policyholders who become severely disabled. As much as this sounds like a great insurance, I got to opt out of it as I don’t live in Singapore anymore and the payout is only for those living in Singapore.
  2. I found out that resident individuals earning less than $22,000 a year, do not need to file an Income Tax Return for 2009 anymore. Prior to this everyone got to file even to report zero earning. So.. no filing for me and mommy!

And the good news….

As part of the GST offset package, I am getting SGD500 into my bank account. Yihaa!!.. the first payout is on 1st March for SGD250 and the the balance on 1st July! Sweet!!

Remember when I blogged about this item in June? Well a lot of of you guys can’t imagine how and where it is used. Also some of you can’t imagine how we, in Singapore, hang our clothes out to dry on bamboo poles.

Well.. I have more picture here to help you “see” the way we do it in a high rise apartment building in sunny Singapore.

View from the kitchen window.
This is where we “hoist” the bamboo pole out the window

The “cover” in action

I hope that clears up some questions you may have ok… if not, next time I’ll demo on video tape..lol!!

While I was back in SG earlier this week, I visited my aunt who just moved to their new flat in Jalan Membina (somewhere in Lower Delta Road). Wow! I love everything about the unit. From the design to the furnishing to the view. Even the landscaping of the whole estate was beautiful.

Singapore homes have come a long way since I lived there. Nowadays, there are concept living meant to cater to the young and stylish. I felt like I was in a private condominium area instead of a typical HDB area. I wish I had some photos of the apartment to show you guys but I only remember to take photo after we left the unit and mommy was too lazy to go up again coz it was raining and all.. but I did get these photos of the rooftop playground (on top of the multi-storey carpark) on the 8th floor .. Awesome right?

Do you know what this item is? No, it’s not some medical devices or anything complex like that.

This is a typical item that Singaporean living in a HDB apartment would be familiar with. We use this little useful gadget to cover our bamboo pole holder! As you might imagine, when you are living in a high rise, the only way to dry our wet clothes out in the sun is via bamboo poles like this… and the cap above goes over the holes when we don’t use it so that when it rains, water does not accumulate in the holes and form breeding grounds for mosquitoes! Simple yet a useful gadget eh???

And do you know that we can get fined if we failed to have these caps on the holes when the government officials actually come over to our home to make sure we follow this little “rule”? After all it only cost SGD1.00 for a pack of 6. So make sure you get yours ok sengihnampakgigi

Hi everyone!! And here I am…lol… all the way from Singapore.. I managed to sneak away to the internet cafe just downstairs and opposite my block. Since I am not using Miss Fly, you will see this post missing all my famous smilies :)..

Anyway.. guess what? The one time I am in Singapore, they shut down the water supply to my block coz of some water tank maintenance or something. And because they did not send a note in our letterbox (they only stick one notice at the lift lobby), both me and my mom were not aware of the “non-water” day today. So guess what?.. I’m here – without my shower – lol.. don’t worry I sprayed on plenty of perfume on the way down..hehehe..especially after hauling those two pails of water from the hawker center downstairs to my unit.

You know what I need? I need or rather I want an office space of my own in Singapore.. kinda like an office away from home kinda thing complete with an assistant of my own, like the Dallas Office Space that my ex-boss used to have when he’s there on business with internet connection, someone to handle his mails and an assistant to handle this type of emergency, that way even if my mom don’t read and write English, someone will always let me know of what’s happening here like “no-water” day for instance. Oh well!!
