Selamat Hari Raya 2012

I would like to take this opportunity to wish all my Muslim readers “Salams Eid”. Hope you had a fantastic Ramadan and an even better Syawal.

No big plans for us this year. Just the normal visiting of relatives and friends. I don’t think I need to bring along any business cards as well or else I’d be sure to get some plastic printers plastic printing cards done before the festive time.

Raya Makan-Makan at LadyJava's *

We had our very first Raya Makan-Makan (Hari Raya Open House) at our new home today. Fun fun day with relatives and friends and a whole lot of great food (if I do say so myself.. lol!)

Though most of our friends were still not back from their “Balik Kampung” or “Return to Hometown”, the turnout was awesome. My in-laws came, Azwaj met up with his ex-school friends and I met up with a friends that I’ve lost touch with for sometime…..and look who showed up.. Thanks for coming guys!

I hate people that play those very loud fireworks. Not only are they illegal, they are also dangerous! I mean those sparklers are fine but not those firecrackers kind of thing. I keep getting shock from the loud explosion that sometimes I totally forgot what I was doing because I was too shocked. I was telling Azwaj that I could easily had a heart attack if I had a heart condition.

Right now some inconsiderate people are having a field day exploding some right now. I can’t even get some peace looking at a site with Mopar performance parts and if these loud explosion cause me to burn my Rendang, I’m going to get violent for sure!

Panoramic Raya View

First day of Raya was awesome. We slept late as usual on Raya’s eve, and after A went to the mosque, we decided to sleep in a bit more before visiting my parents in law. So we only arrived at around 2pm to their place which is about 10minutes away. Upon arrival, we saw a whole group of people in front of the front gate and it was all A’s relative ~his aunts and uncles and his cousins as well.

It was great catching up with them and I laughed so much that day that I actually lost my voice. LOL!

What came with great company? Great food of course. My two sisters-in-law took over the kitchen from Mama this year and prepared all their specialty and since it was such a spread, I decided to try Miss VB’s (my trusted camera phone) panoramic function and came up with this…. guess I need more practise eh? lol!

More pictures coming up over at my food blog! OMG I really need those weight loss products ! LOL!

I'm Back with Mommy and...

In case you guys don’t know, I was back to Singapore on Saturday morning to pick my mom up for a Monday doctor’s appointment here in KL. We left Singapore early this morning and I am now back with mommy and … some homemade Raya cookies! She made this in Ramadhan of course and I have missed it having them two years in a row so this was an awesome treat. I now have one bottle each of Pineapple tarts, Cashew nut cookies and a cookie that I’ve never tasted before but equally delish…

Anyway, Azwaj got to work tonight and since mommy don’t feel like eating out, I’ve wanted to order McDonalds and their wonderful Chicken Foldover for that Mexican recipes feel but mommy wanted Nandos instead. So that was what we had. Equally yummy!!

Raya Was Great but...

..not so great for the body! I had so much food I feel really heavy now. Most Malay Raya dishes have “santan” (coconut milk) in them and I’m not sure if that is the cause, but me and Azwaj both have been feeling so lazy lately. We would wake up, eat (my mother-in-law packed some dishes for us) and then just be too tired to do anything else except just watched tv. I am beginning to think we both need some Lipovox or get up our behinds and start to burn off all this fatty intake!

Will let you know which one we choose ya…

For all muslims, after a month long of fasting from dawn to dusk, now is the time to celebrate with our loved ones and friends!

I will be over at my in-laws later today to celebrate with them. I got all my camera ready with extra compact flash cards and all to take pictures of food and everything that is memorable.

Yey! It's Hari Raya!

Wow! What a day! Went to Pasar Pudu today. Surprised though, not many people today. It could be coz it’s a working day, people are all back in their hometown or they all shop tomorrow because they actually enjoy the crowd!

I got all my ingredients for my famous (at least at my IL’s) “Sambal Goreng” and a new dish that I am trying for the first time – my mom’s “Rendang”! My fridge is now officially a cook’s fridge..hehehe..

See the prawn and the beef, the liver and the lungs, all the ingredients all cut and blended. I decided to do all the preparation in advance so I can cook leisurely and cleanly. I just hate a dirty kitchen. So tomorrow, I just need to cook!

Maybe I even have time to do the “ketupat”?? We’ll see…lolz..
